MICRORISC Honors the Best Student of 2025: Young Minds Are Already Changing the World

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Research and Technology Center of MICRORISC in Jičín hosted the grand finale of the 13th annual national competition Best Student. Among dozens of applicants from all over the Czech Republic, three exceptional students stood out—young individuals who are already shaping the future through science, innovation, creativity, and social responsibility.

Three Fields, Three Talents, One Goal: Pushing the Boundaries of Knowledge
Nikolas Pippal (Gymnázium Olomouc–Hejčín) – the overall winner of the competition – developed a software system that uses Raman spectroscopy and machine learning to help surgeons more accurately detect brain tumors. His solution achieves 96% accuracy and is already in use at the University Hospital in Olomouc. For this achievement, Nikolas was awarded the main prize, which includes a monetary reward for his school and an IQAROS monitoring system valued at over CZK 19,000.
Matěj Dittrich (Hořické gymnázium) – an enthusiastic physicist and science popularizer who built a Foucault pendulum and uses his own experiments to demonstrate the curvature of the Earth. He is also involved in the Czech Academy of Sciences student program.
Soňa Kleiner (Gymnázium Boženy Němcové, Hradec Králové) – a unique student who combines biochemistry, journalism, volunteerism, and public engagement. She is the recipient of the Jan Opletal Award and founder of the Gen Z Media Summit platform for active young voices.
